If you’re planning to renovate or remodel your home, you can find a lot of professional help without ever leaving your couch. There are dozens of home design apps out there that can help you visualize your project before you even get started.

Here are some of the very best 3D home design apps. Simply download them to your phone, and start bringing your ideas to life.

3D Home Design

This app lets you design your own dream house right from your computer, phone, or tablet. You have the freedom to choose a floor plan, construct the rooms, and more. You can even adjust the thicknesses of the walls and ceiling heights. The drag-and-drop interface and exhaustive database of hundreds of different items like light fixtures, rugs, and windows makes it easy to achieve a design that is unique to you.

When you’re finally satisfied with your design, simply click a button and your design springs to life in glorious 3D. Home Design 3D is available for PC and Mac, and the app version is available for iOS and Android. While the basic version is free, two paid upgrade packages are available, as well.

Homestyler Interior Design

The Homestyler Interior Design app allows you to take a photo of the room you want to decorate and then upload the image to convert it to a 3D model. Once you have your room modeled, you can start inserting 3D models of real furniture, light fixtures, paintings, rugs, and a host of other accessories. You can even experiment with paint colors or try out a variety of wall coverings.

The Homestyler Interior Design app is free, but there are paid add-ons available, too. It is currently available for PCs, iOS, and Android.

TimberTech Building Products

TimberTech Building Products apps make it easy for you to design your dream deck. All you have to do is download the app to your smartphone or tablet, download and print the 8½″ x 11″ visualization marker, and then just scan the marker to bring TimberTech products to life.

The 3D Deck & Rail Visualizer will allow you to customize your decking, railing, porch and pavers. Or, you can build a virtual deck in your backyard using virtual renditions of TimberTech’s decking and railing products. TimberTech Building Products apps are available in the Apple App Store.

Benjamin Moore Color Capture

If you want to change the color of a room, but you’re really unsure about which color to choose, the Benjamin Moore Color Capture app can help. For instance, if you just love the color of a pair of shoes but you’re not sure whether or not you can find that color in a paint, all you need to do is snap a photo of the shoes and the app will locate its match from Benjamin Moore’s 3500-plus paint colors. You can even share your find on social media.

This app even allows you to group favorite colors together, provides color cards for inspiration, and a full-spectrum color wheel. Once you have your ideal color chosen, simply use the app to locate your nearest Benjamin Moore store. Benjamin Moore’s Color Capture is free in the Apple App and Google Play Stores.

Houzz Interior Design Ideas

The Houzz website is a popular favorite among DIY interior designers, and now offers its own app featuring a database of over eight million home design photos to help give you inspiration when you need it. The app allows you to search based on style, materials, or even product type. See something you love? You can bookmark the photo for easy access later on.

One of the most exciting things about this app is its “View in My Room” feature. Using your phone’s camera, you can actually see how a product will look in your room. There’s even an option to buy the item if you love it. The Houzz Interior Design Ideas app is free for iOS, Android, and for Kindle Fire tablets.

Arrange-a-Room

Better Homes and Gardens Arrange-a-Room design app allows you to rearrange your room virtually so you can see how it will look beforehand, so you only have to move that heavy sofa once.

There are even options for saving your designs so you can access them later, or you can print them out or e-mail them to a friend for their input. The Arrange-a-Room app from Better Homes and Gardens is free (when you sign up for a BHG account) and it is available for PCs, iOS, iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

Floor Planner

Floor Planner is an easy-to-use app that allows you to create an entire house in 2D or 3D. It boasts a huge library of virtual furnishings, flooring, and a wide array of appliances and home décor to bring your creation to life. You can even design the landscaping around the property for a completely finished look. Floor Planner is available as a free version, but there are two paid upgrades available. You can currently download the app on your PC, iPad, and iPhone.
