WILMINGTON, OH— When Tara McConnell, the designer and creator of temp-tations®, a line of hand painted stoneware, was planning an elaborate outdoor space for entertaining, she relied on the expertise of Greg Lillie, owner of Lillie General Contracting of Wilmington, DE.  Lillie offered the latest TimberTech natural-looking decking materials with the low-maintenance, yet elegance, McConnell was seeking for her beach home.

Lillie, whose deck business covers Delaware and Southeastern PA, recommended new “capped” composites from TimberTech’s Legacy Collection in Tigerwood, a color that resembles an interior flooring tropical hardwood. TimberTech’s capped composites feature an added layer of protection around each board and a 25-year stain and fade warranty.  Lillie accented the two-level Tigerwood deck with TimberTech’s sister brand, AZEK Deck’s capped pvc decking in dark brown Acacia, for a rich look that McConnell loves.

“The deck is just beautiful and has all the luxury and coziness of the indoors, but lets us enjoy every minute we can of the outdoors,” said McConnell.   And, as a designer of kitchen stoneware, she said mealtime is important and dining al fresco makes it more fun.  “Along with family meals, we love to entertain large groups of people as much as possible, so low-maintenance is a must,” she said.  “Plus, we almost doubled our living space without putting an addition on the house.”  With the family’s primary residence in Westchester, PA, she noted that with a second home, using low-maintenance exterior products can mean the difference between relaxing and enjoying it or spending free weekends working on it.

In addition to McConnell’s colorful outdoor furniture, Lillie enhanced the outdoor room effect with TimberTech’s concealed fasteners and deck lighting.  “Some composite decking requires gaps that are too large and it just detracts from the aesthetics,” he said. “TimberTech has its own hidden fasteners that space the boards perfectly.”  He is also a fan of TimberTech’s RadianceRail, which assembles easily and sets the deck off nicely with post cap lights that create a subtle downward glow.

With a fire pit and screened-in porch as part of the deck, McConnell said year-round enjoyment of the deck is possible.  “Whether it’s family meals, lavish dinner parties or weekend barbecues, we have the perfect outdoor space to do it all,” said McConnell.  “And, we can enjoy the warm weather while we have it!”  Learn more about TimberTech’s Legacy Collection at www.timbertech.com.
