Island Retreat
Jewfish Key, Florida - Southwest
Located between Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key, this Florida vacation home was built on the 38-acre island of Jewfish Key. Accessible only by boat, this space was created with its natural surroundings in mind. The design takes cues from the island itself in both the indoor and outdoor spaces, avoiding stereotypical coastal themes. The transition from indoor to outdoor spaces is seamless, with expansive glass and full-width decks spanning the first two levels. The decking is TimberTech's Vintage Collection® in Coastline®, reflecting the key's environment with a natural, weathered gray appearance. The main deck features a nautilus-shell shaped shower with innovative curved walls of TimberTech Decking in Dark Hickory. The doorless spiral form offers privacy and moisture-resistant durability without the need for corrosion-prone door hardware. Superior moisture and weather resistance were a must for the site, mere inches above sea level. In 2024, two consecutive hurricanes tested the home’s climate resiliency, which the outdoor spaces weathered without damage.
