What defines the Vintage Collection®?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Vintage Collection® fire resistant? Is it compliant for fire zones?

Yes. TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking Vintage Collection® is one of the best choices for fire-prone areas. It carries three key designations:

- Ignition Resistant (ASTM E2632)

- Class A Flame Spread Rating (ASTM E84, the top 0–25 index score)

- WUI Compliant (Wildland Urban Interface compliant)

In practical terms, that means the boards better resist catching fire, slow the spread of flames, and resist ignition from flying embers. Together, those qualities make Vintage Collection® a smart pick for wildfire-exposed regions.

Can the Vintage Collection® be used near water? near salt water?

Yes. Vintage Collection® decking is well-suited for waterfront use, including pools, docks, lakefronts, and coastal settings. Because it's made from Advanced PVC with no wood fibers, it resists moisture exceptionally well, so you won't deal with rot, splintering, peeling, or water-related decay common with wood decking. It also delivers up to 40% better traction than competitive composites, wet or dry.

Are there any real woods that compare to the finish and color of the Vintage Collection® boards?

Yes. The Vintage Collection® is designed to capture the look of sought-after exotic hardwoods. Its refined wire-brushed finish and multitonal color blending, with highlights and lowlights, emulate premium species like ipe, mahogany, and teak.

Color by color, the closest real-wood comparisons are:

Mahogany → mahogany-style hardwoods

Weathered Teak® → teak-inspired tones

English Walnut® → rich walnut browns

Cypress® → warm cypress coloration

Coastline® → weathered, driftwood-like coastal hardwood

Can the Vintage Collection® be used for non-deck applications? (ie. docks, porch, cladding)

Yes, with the right product format for each application. Vintage Collection® extends well beyond standard deck surfaces, but not every profile suits every use:

Docks: Vintage MAX boards (1.5"" thick) are built for dock-style applications and allow wider joist spacing. Available in Coastline®.

Porches: The Advanced PVC Porch Collection offers Vintage-inspired colors with tongue-and-groove installation for a traditional porch floor look.

Cladding: TimberTech Cladding comes in all Vintage colors.

What are the best fasteners to use with the Vintage Collection®?

The best fastener depends on your board profile and the finished look you want. For Vintage Collection®, the recommended systems include:

CONCEALoc® for grooved boards when you want a hidden-fastener look

SIDELoc™ for square-shouldered Advanced PVC boards, fastening discreetly through the side

CORTEX® for Advanced PVC for a top-down install with material-matched plugs

TOPLoc® for Advanced PVC Fascia for fascia boards

What is the maximum joist spacing for the Vintage Collection®?

For standard Vintage Collection® boards, follow the joist spacing in the current TimberTech installation guide for your specific profile and application. Vintage MAX: Up to 24 inches on center

Tighter spacing is often required for stair treads, diagonal layouts, or commercial conditions, so always check the guidelines before you build.

What colors are widely available? Are there local exclusions?

The Vintage Collection® offers six signature colors:

Coastline®

English Walnut®

Mahogany®

Weathered Teak®

Dark Hickory®

Cypress®

The six core colors are your main choices, but local inventory and profile availability may differ by market. For exact regional availability, check with a local TimberTech dealer or distributor before finalizing your build.

Which railing collections are compatible with the Vintage Collection®?

Vintage Collection® decking pairs with a wide range of TimberTech Railing systems, giving you flexibility across style and budget. Compatible and commonly paired collections include:

Impression Rail Express® (aluminum, non-combustible)

Classic Composite Series

Advantage Rail™

Pinnacle Rail®

Statement Rail

Reliance Rail™ (premium vinyl)

Fulton Rail® (steel, non-combustible)

Can FUSIONLoc be used for TimberTech Decking?
TimberTech no longer produces FUSIONLoc Hidden Fasteners, but they are compatible with all of our grooved deck boards.
