Can Impression Privacy Screen be used as a guard rail?

Privacy Screen is code rated for all railing guard rail requirements at 36″ and 42″ Railing Heights per our published code report ESR 4217. When installing the 72″ high privacy system it requires the addition of an Impression Rail Express top rail at the rail heights if the project requires railing code, as shown in the instructions.

What are the max spans and heights you can create with Impression Privacy Screen?

Impression Privacy Screen Can span 6′ wide and up to 6′ high. If a larger span is required, an additional post, slat, and frame kit will be needed. Refer to our published code report ESR 4217 for specific details around railing spans.

What is the actual length of the Impression Privacy Screen Slats?

Impression Privacy Screen™ slats are 67.938″ in length. When placed at full length into the FlexChannel and between the posts the system will measure 72.438″ center of post to center of post. The patent-pending FlexChannel™ and FlexChannel Gasket™ hold every slat firmly in place to minimize rattling.

Impression Privacy Screen™ uses durable aluminum slats that come in modular infill kits. TimberTech sizes the system by kit, so the slats fit neatly within the frame:

72" Slat Infill Kit: 16 slats and 40 spacers

36/42" Slat Infill Kit: 9 slats and 20 spacers

Can Impression Privacy Screen be used as a stand-alone privacy screen on a deck?

Yes. Impression Privacy Screen™ is built with modular flexibility, so you can use it to define a private patio area or carve out a quiet corner on your deck. For ground-level, free-standing setups, TimberTech offers dedicated components:

108" Frame Kit for ground applications only

Frame Kit contents: 2 heavy channels, 1 universal top cover, 2 H-channels, 4 slat inserts, a hardware pack, and 2 end blocks. The Impression Privacy Screen can be installed on a deck without the Impression Rail Express top rail, as long as railing fall protection is not required by code and local building inspector requirements. Also, Impression Privacy Screen can be installed onto a concrete patio for privacy or into the ground to hide an A/C Units, garbage cans, etc.

Can I connect the privacy screen to my existing Railing system?

Yes, when that system is Impression Rail Express®. The Impression Privacy Screen™ is designed as a multi-use extension of the Impression Rail Express® Collection, so the two are built to work together.
