What defines the Reserve Collection?

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best fasteners to use with the Reserve Collection?

The best fastener depends on your board profile and the finished look you want. Reserve comes in both grooved and square-shouldered profiles, and it works with several TimberTech systems:

CONCEALoc® for grooved boards when you want a hidden-fastener finish

CORTEX® for Composite Decking for a top-down install with color-matched plugs made from the same boards

TOPLoc® for Composite for color-matched, top-down face fastening

CORTEX® plugs and screws come in matching Reserve colors, including Driftwood, Antique Leather®, Dark Roast®, and Reclaimed Chestnut™, for a near-seamless surface. CORTEX® options are also available for Reserve fascia and riser boards.

What is the maximum joist spacing for the Reserve Collection?

For the Reserve Collection, follow the joist spacing outlined in the current TimberTech installation guide for your specific profile and application. Proper spacing keeps your deck flat, secure, and warranty-eligible, so it's worth confirming the exact requirement before you build.

Standard Reserve boards: Confirm on-center spacing in the installation guide.

Stairs, diagonal layouts, and commercial applications typically require tighter spacing.

What colors are widely available? Are there local exclusions?

The Reserve Collection offers four signature colors, each with a rustic cathedral grain and bold, multitonal reclaimed wood look:

Driftwood

Dark Roast®

Antique Leather®

Reclaimed Chestnut™

All four are part of the core Reserve line, with no regional exclusions noted. That makes Reserve a flexible choice whether you want soft, weathered grays or deep, rich browns. A fire-resistant version of each color is also available through special order.

As with any decking, local inventory can vary by profile, length, and distributor demand. Some colors may stock more readily in certain markets than others. For exact regional availability and lead times, check with a local TimberTech dealer or distributor before finalizing your build.

Which railing collections are compatible with the Reserve Collection?

The Reserve Collection pairs with every TimberTech Railing system, giving you flexibility across style and budget. Compatible collections include:

Impression Rail Express®

Classic Composite Series

Advantage Rail™

Pinnacle Rail®

Statement Rail

Reliance Rail™

Fulton Rail®

The Classic Composite Series is an especially popular pairing, often shown with Reserve's bold, reclaimed wood colors.

Can the Reserve Collection be used near water? near salt water?

Yes, with the right expectations. The Reserve Collection features a four-sided polymer cap with zero wood fibers, giving it strong moisture resistance and protection from mold, mildew, and rot. That makes it a dependable choice near lakefronts, pools, and other wet areas.

For dedicated dock applications, TimberTech recommends its Advanced PVC lines over Composite.

Is the Reserve Collection fire resistant? Is it compliant for fire zones?

The Reserve Collection offers a measure of fire resistance, but it isn't TimberTech's top fire-zone choice. Reserve is WUI Compliant through fire-resistant SKUs available by special order. However, it does not carry an Ignition Resistant designation or a Class A Flame Spread Rating.

If you're building in a wildfire-prone area, you have options:

Reserve (fire-resistant SKUs): WUI Compliant, available via special order

Vintage and Landmark Collections (Advanced PVC): Ignition Resistant, Class A Flame Spread Rating, WUI Compliant

Harvest+ Collection (Advanced PVC): Class A Flame Spread Rating, WUI Compliant

Are there any real woods that compare to the finish and color of the Reserve Collection boards?

Yes. The Reserve Collection is designed to capture the character-rich look and feel of reclaimed wood. With bold, cascading colors, a rustic cathedral grain, and a heavy wire-brushed finish, each board carries the kind of depth and variation you'd expect from salvaged, weathered timber.

Rather than copying one species, Reserve evokes the look of aged, time-worn hardwoods across its four colors:

Reclaimed Chestnut™ → warm, rustic reclaimed wood tones

Antique Leather® → rich, broken-in brown

Dark Roast® → deep, roasted dark wood

Driftwood → soft, sun-weathered gray

Is the Reserve Collection capped or uncapped? On how many sides?
The Reserve Collection is a four-sided capped composite decking product. It features a proprietary polymer cap on all four sides, including inside the grooves, made with zero wood fibers. Because the cap contains no wood fibers, there's nothing on the surface to absorb water or break down. It's capped on all four sides for superior moisture resistance and lasting beauty, backed by 30-Year Product and Fade & Stain Limited Warranties.
Can the Reserve Collection be used for non-deck applications? (ie. docks, porch, cladding)

The Reserve Collection is built specifically as composite decking, so it isn't offered in dedicated porch or cladding formats. Those tongue-and-groove porch and cladding options come from the TimberTech Advanced PVC lines, like the Vintage and Landmark Collections.

For finishing touches, Reserve does offer matching fascia and riser boards in all six colors, so you can wrap your deck's perimeter and steps for a clean, seamless look.

Docks: Advanced PVC is the recommended choice for dock-style use, not composite Reserve.

Porch: Not available in the porch format.

Cladding: Not available in the cladding format.

Can FUSIONLoc be used for TimberTech Decking?
TimberTech no longer produces FUSIONLoc Hidden Fasteners, but they are compatible with all of our grooved deck boards.
