Kristina’s happily ever after deck
Wellston, OK
If you follow Kristina Evans on Instagram, you know she doesn’t just have a deck story, she has a deck saga. After nine years of uneven stain and peeling paint, endless sanding, and having to start all over every spring, her husband said, “I never want to stain this deck again — we’re replacing it with composite.” After a little Insta-scrolling, Kristina discovered TimberTech and the decision was made. ” I didn’t even look at other brands,” Kristina says. “I just said ‘yep, I like that and I’m going to try it.'”
Meet Kristina Evans
“I went with TimberTech Advanced PVC because I really loved the colors and how the texture looks like real wood.”
– Kristina
Kristina Evans has built her brand by sharing gardening and decorating ideas to help her followers elevate their living spaces. Beautiful places bring Kristina joy, and her TimberTech deck is the new favorite. She shares her cozy home with her husband, daughter, and three dogs.
Kristina works to maintain a beautiful, cohesive look throughout her home — including the outdoor areas. “My house is white with dark beams outside, so I wanted to keep that contrast going.” For Kristina’s real wood look that pops, she chose the Landmark Collection® in American Walnut.
In addition to all of the back-breaking work every year, one of Kristina’s biggest disappointments with her wood deck was that the stain never turned out to be the color she hoped for.
With fade-resistant TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking, Kristina has the exact color she wanted, and it will stay that color for decades to come. “I love that the color’s not going to change.”
TimberTech Advanced PVC is our most moisture-resistant decking. Since it’s slip resistant, splinter free, and made with zero organic material, it’s perfect for Kristina’s pool area. “When we ripped off the boards around the pool, the beams underneath were all rotted,” she says. Fortunately, her new substructure is protected by TimberTech Joist Tape to help keep the water out so it will last longer.
Having a beautiful, new TimberTech deck has made Kristina’s family love their outdoor space more than ever. “We’ve always loved swimming,” she says, “but now we’ve been watching TV out here and we’ve cooked out here almost every night — we don’t even want to be inside!”
Living in Oklahoma, there’s no avoiding the red mud — especially with a toddler and three dogs. “I know how it looks inside on my light floors, and I didn’t want that hassle on my deck,” Kristina says. Fortunately, the deep, rich color of American Walnut is very forgiving and cleans up easily.
After seeing the composite decking at her local hardware store, Kristina assumed her color choices would be limited — so TimberTech’s wide range was a surprise. “When I saw all the different colors, I was overwhelmed, but excited,” she said. Being able to order free TimberTech samples helped her narrow down her favorites.
“Grass is the only surface that doesn’t get hot in the Oklahoma sun.” Kristina says. “People warned me that composite decking would get too hot, but I’m barefoot on my TimberTech deck all the time and it doesn’t burn my feet.” The fact that our Advanced PVC is engineered to stay up to 30° cooler to the touch1 is a huge plus.

1Although TimberTech PVC Decking is cooler to the touch than many other deck board products, all decking products will get hot in the sun. Additionally, the darker the decking color, the hotter it will feel. For hotter climates, consider choosing a lighter color.
2Recycled material weight is estimated based upon the recycled waste and scrap material used in the manufacturing of TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking at the time of publication.
