Adam Dahill’s 130-year-old Brooklyn brownstone beautifully blends tradition and innovation. So, when he partnered with REAL SIMPLE and landscape design company Brooklyn Grange, he needed a solution that would honor the home’s historic character while enhancing its outdoor spaces. Enter TimberTech, the perfect match for their vision.

Before: With overgrown plants and furniture that had seen better days, the backyard felt untamed and untouched, just waiting for a refresh to bring it to life.

The brand-new rooftop deck serves as a cozy escape off the guest bedroom. The designer chose decking from the Vintage Collection® in English Walnut to bring a real wood look and timeless elegance to the brownstone’s balcony.

A rooftop with untapped potential design not only sat unused, but also failed to complement the property’s overall aesthetic. During renovations, it was raised to accommodate the new deck.

Impression Rail Express® in Classic Black complements the home’s metal accents and integrates with the drink rail, while TimberTech Aluminum framing offers a moisture- and fire-resistant foundation.

Advanced PVC Decking in English Walnut was used to create a low-maintenance island deck for Adam’s backyard. The deck’s unique privacy wall design features a pattern of alternating narrow boards with a standard-width board, adding to the aesthetics and creates a sense of intimacy for outdoor gatherings. Thanks to the moisture-resistant properties of TimberTech Decking, Adam’s family won’t have to worry about mold or mildew.
