Darms Lane Winery is nestled in an inviting, relaxing area with beautiful views. With the stunning Napa Valley scenery, it made sense for owner Tricia Bump Davis to update their high-maintenance wood deck. Since rebuilding and expanding with TimberTech and StruXure, it’s getting more use than ever. “We find ourselves gravitating out there for any reason,” Tricia said. “The deck is comfortable and feels very open. We have meetings and gatherings there — it’s become the main location we use daily.”

About Darms Lane Winery

“I knew the deck would be nice just from the samples, but I was not prepared for just how beautiful it looked once installed.”

– Tricia

Darms Lane is a family owned and operated boutique vineyard delivering quality, estate-grown wines from their organically certified vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. They produced their first bottles of Darms Lane Cabernet Sauvignon in 2005; and, today, produce around 3,000 cases of wine each year.

After watching their old redwood deck turn gray over the years, Tricia wanted decking with a natural color that would last. She chose fade-resistant TimberTech Advanced PVC in Boardwalk and Castle Gate from the Landmark Collection®. “I liked the lighter color because it will be cooler in the summer months,” Tricia said. “And the neutral color palette makes our views even nicer with the contrast of the sky, vineyards, and deck.”

The Darms Lane Winery update included the home’s exterior as well and using AZEK Paint Pro Trim on the stairs helped tie the look all together. “The finished product really was amazing,” Tricia said.

When the scenery is as beautiful as Darms Lane Winery, low-profile railing is the way to go. TimberTech Impression Rail Express® with Vertical Cable Infill provides a nearly unobstructed view and the Drink Rail is perfect for tastings and other gatherings.

Made in the USA from approximately 60% recycled material, TimberTech Advanced PVC is the greenest PVC on the market. “Many of our customers prioritize and appreciate eco-friendly products,” Tricia said. “Our vineyard is organic, and the use of recycled materials in TimberTech fits well with our plans to make sustainable choices in everything we do.”

While Tricia’s new TimberTech deck was built in the same style as the old wood deck, the Pergola X by StruXure was a new and welcome addition. “The pergola provides a shady spot with a different vista that was never a focus before,” Tricia said. ” It’s made the deck more usable for gatherings, and the customizable LED lighting gives us a fun way to add some color at night.”

Being in Napa, CA, means the risk of wildfires is very real. But building with TimberTech’s Landmark Collection means Tricia can enjoy peace of mind and her deck for years to come — thanks to its top-rated fire resistance.

“After 20 years of maintaining a redwood deck, we are looking forward to the low maintenance of TimberTech,” Tricia said. “We use the deck quite a lot and maintenance has been minimal, which is a huge advantage.” Regular sweeping and an annual cleaning is all it takes to keep a TimberTech deck looking beautiful.

Easy, durable TimberTech Advanced PVC is warrantied to last a lifetime. “Our office is a 1940s farmhouse,” Tricia said. “We’ve joked that the TimberTech deck will probably last longer than the house it’s attached to.”
