Contractor FAQ

What is the difference between requesting a quote and finding a contractor?

Requesting a quote connects you with TimberTech contractors near you who will reach out directly to discuss your project and provide a free estimate. It's the fastest path to getting a real number for your deck.

Finding a contractor lets you browse all TimberTech contractors in your area at your own pace. You can see their profiles, services, samples of their work, and contact information, then reach out to them directly when you're ready. Both are free.

The difference between requesting a quote and finding a contractor is simply whether you want contractors to come to you, or whether you'd rather do the searching yourself.

How do I know if a contractor in your locator is qualified?

Every contractor in the TimberTech network has experience installing TimberTech products, and we provide them with in-depth training on our installation best practices. They are also eligible for coverage under our Limited Replacement Labor Warranty, which provides an added layer of protection for your investment.

What does the TimberTech labor warranty cover and for how long?

  • The TimberTech Limited Replacement Labor Warranty covers the cost of labor to repair or replace defective TimberTech Decking installed by an eligible contractor. Coverage ranges from 2–7 years depending on the contractor's membership level.
  • Be sure to ask your contractor whether their work is eligible for coverage when you meet with them — and confirm the specific terms that apply to your project.

How many quotes should I get before choosing a contractor?

  • We recommend getting at least two to three quotes before making a decision.

  • Multiple quotes give you:

    • a realistic sense of what's reasonable in your local market,
    • help you compare how different contractors approach your project,
    • and give you a stronger foundation for making a confident choice.
  • Keep in mind that the lowest quote isn't always the best value — look at what's included, the contractor's experience, and their warranty coverage before deciding.

What information should I have ready before requesting a quote?

  • The more information you can provide upfront, the more accurate your quote will be.

  • Before you submit a request, it helps to have:

    • rough sense of your deck size,
    • whether this is a new build or a replacement,
    • what features you want (railing, stairs, lighting),
    • your preferred decking material if you know it,
    • and a general budget range.
  • You don't need exact measurements or a finalized design — your contractor will gather those details during the consultation. But having a ballpark sense of your project scope helps them respond with a more useful first estimate.

What is the difference between Silver, Gold, and Platinum TimberTech contractors?

TimberTech contractors are recognized at five membership levels — Member, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Platinum Elite — based on the amount of TimberTech, AZEK, and StruXure products they purchase and their experience with them.
