When it was time to revive their outdoor living space, Jason and Kelly chose TimberTech for their biggest-ever DIY project.

Replacing a redwood deck was the biggest DIY project Jason and Kelly had ever taken on. With the help of installation videos, printed instructions, and an encouraging dad with tools, they began the job. As self-described outdoor people, Jason and Kelly seldom used their old wood deck, but spent plenty of time maintaining it. With family encouragement and plenty of DIY research, they decided to upgrade their deck to TimberTech—on their own schedule between work and the family duties you would expect with three kids at home. Their TimberTech project not only gave them a beautiful deck, but a new sense of confidence in what they could accomplish together.

With growing children playing on their deck every day, durability was not negotiable. We wanted a product that looked like real wood but didn’t have the same wear and tear as real wood,” said Kelly. “This is our forever home, so It’s great to have TimberTech and have that longevity.
Low maintenance was a driving force in why Jason and Kelly chose TimberTech. Jason explained “We’d have to stain and sand the redwood year after year—the maintenance is a lot of work. Then a few weeks after you’ve done the work, it starts to look like it did before.”
Jason and Kelly’s upgraded deck gave them a new outlook on their home. “The wood deck before wasn’t that inviting. With TimberTech, it’s like an extension to our home. Being able to furnish it and be out there grilling and hanging out is exciting. It’s part of our house that we really weren’t enjoying as much before.“
Jason and Kelly could hardly wait to show off their project. “We’re having a deck reveal party for our friends and family. I think it’s going to blow them away because it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, you did a deck,’ but this deck is gorgeous and it’s just the style that we chose.”
