Tiffani Thiessen’s updated family legacy

Built in the Sequoia National Forest by her grandfather in 1962, the family cabin of actor Tiffani Thiessen’s holds a special place in her heart. “This cabin, of course, is extremely special to me,” Tiffani said. “It’s such a huge part of my childhood.” After taking it over in 2020, she wanted to share a lifetime of experiences with her own family — but also wanted a larger space to enjoy the beauty of their surroundings. “I chose TimberTech because I knew it was going to last forever,” she said. And after matching her up with TimberTech Pro Jake Johnson, the planning began.

Meet Tiffani

Tiffani Thiessen is a face an entire generation grew up with on TV. In addition to acting on many popular TV shows in her career spanning more than 40 years, she has produced and hosted shows like “Dinner at Tiffani’s” and “Deliciousness.” Tiffani has also published cookbooks, including “Here We Go Again” and “Pull Up a Chair”. With her husband and two children, she divides her time between her Los Angeles home and her family cabin in Sequoia National Forest.

“When you have a house up here in the Sequoias and the mountains, you want to spend most of your time outside,” Tiffani said. Working closely with Jake to find colors that best suited her home, she chose the Vintage Collection in English Walnut and paired it with Impression Rail Express in Black. “English Walnut was really just a dead ringer immediately,” said Jake. “It contrasted fantastically with the cabin but then also blended so well in the forest surroundings.”

Tiffani had several reasons to replace her deck. “The two biggest were one, the size, and two, that it was made from old-fashioned wood,” she explained. “We constantly had to sand it down and re-stain it — it was a lot of time and upkeep, as well as cost.”

The new low-maintenance TimberTech deck is exactly what Tiffani envisioned. “The deck really complements the original cabin,” she said. “It feels like it’s been here since the beginning, and that’s what I wanted.”

In addition to fire-resistant Advanced PVC Decking and Impression Rail Express, TimberTech Aluminum Framing is a big part of Tiffani’s fire-resistant deck. “It was was extremely important for us up here,” she said. “We’re in a very fire-prone area.”

“This English Walnut decking just fit perfectly out here in contrast with the black aluminum framing and black rail.” Being able to find the right combination of products in one place makes it easier for Jake to design beautiful decks for clients like Tiffani.

Sustainable TimberTech Decking checked off an important box for Tiffani. “I’ve really tried to be as sustainable as possible especially since having children,” she said. “I want to leave our place nice for our kids and generations beyond us.” Made with up to 65% recycled material, Advanced PVC is also recyclable at the end of its useful life.

Designing with Jake was especially fun for Tiffani. “The choices of wood shades and railings were endless,” she said, “and it made the designing process amazing.” To complement her Impression Rail Express railing, she added subtle Post Cap Lights.

“I think what I’m looking forward to most is spending time with my family on the deck,” Tiffani said. “I can envision my kids making s’mores, me in the outdoor kitchen — even an outdoor movie.” Whatever fun they plan, TimberTech Advanced PVC is here for it.
