TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking has been recognized for innovative sustainability from one of the country’s most trusted sources. Since 1909, Good Housekeeping has been testing household products and presenting their findings to the public. Today, Good Housekeeping helps homeowners choose trustworthy, sustainable products that support a more sustainable lifestyle and help make and help maintain a greener home.

The 2023 Sustainable Innovation Award was given to the TimberTech Advanced PVC Decking, specifically the Landmark Collection, known for its bold hardwood appearance and dramatic crosscut grain texture. TimberTech’s manufacturer, AZEK, was carefully reviewed and the products received thorough testing in the Good Housekeeping labs. They first documented AZEK’s energy, water, and waste reduction; use of recycled material and future product recyclability; and overall corporate efforts to reduce carbon, waste, and more. Then, they put the products to the test for functionality, durability, and in TimberTech’s case, beauty.

TimberTech performed well in both corporate responsibility and product performance. With approximately 60% recycled content—including scrap vinyl siding and PVC pipes—the decking’s sustainability credentials were strong. What came as a pleasant surprise to the reviewers, including judge Dan DiClerico, director of the Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab at the Good Housekeeping Institute, was the beauty of the product, calling the French White Oak and English Walnut varieties “some of the better looking composite decking products to come through our labs.” The beauty is not only skin deep, but long-lasting. “This decking proved extremely durable and low-maintenance in our tests, thanks to capped-polymer technology. It was particularly scratch- and dent-resistant so it should hold up over time.”

TimberTech Advanced PVC is one of very few decking products that are made without any organic material whatsoever. The lack of any component—such as wood fibers—that could potentially degrade in an outdoor, open-to-the-weather environment is part of what makes our Advanced PVC so durable. Proprietary technology also contributes to comfort and protection, as the boards are cooler to the touch compared to other composite boards, and 100% splinter-free. The line also carries a Class A Fire Rating, a WUI designation, or both. That means that a deck built with Advanced PVC from TimberTech is a better choice in fire zones.
