Get familiar with the options and learn how to customize a railing design for your customer.

Step 1: Choose a Top Rail

The top rail you choose sets the tone for the rest of the railing design. Options range from traditional milled wood looks to sleek modern designs, so you’re bound to find one to fit the style you’re creating.

Step 2: Choose An Infill

While your top rail choice sets the tone for your design, the infill is just as important as it helps define the aesthetic for the space you’re curating.

Composite Balusters

Choose this for: A stately, traditional look with a strong silhouette

Aluminum Balusters

Choose this for: A narrower profile compared to composite for clearer sightlines and a more modern aesthetic.

Stainless Steel Cable Rail

Choose this for: An industrial-chic look that doesn’t compromise on safety or durability.

Glass Panels*

Choose this for: A chic, minimalist aesthetic and a strong, shatter-resistant construction.

*Glass panels not included with railing system

Step 3: Choose Your Colors

The colors you choose give your railing design its finishing touch. Color selection extends to your rails, posts, and composite baluster infills (aluminum balusters only come in black). You can choose one color for a monochromatic look or mix and match for more contrast. When choosing railing colors, think about other exterior colors, such as the home’s trim, and choose to either match or contrast them.

NOTE: Your available color options will depend on your top rail choice.

Classic Composite Series Color Options

For Premier Rail, RadianceRail, and Drink Rail, color options are Matte White, Matte Espresso, Matte Black, Black, and White. For Trademark Rail, color options are Matte White and White—and many of these colors are also available for the posts and composite balusters.

All of our rail options are protected by and our 25-Year Limited Product Warranty, and Premium Matte colors are also protected by a 25-Year Fade & Stain Limited Warranty.

If your customer chooses the Drink Rail, they’ll also have the choice of any deck board color from TimberTech decking collections featuring full-profile, square-shoulder deck boards, for your deck board top rail.

Deck Lights: A Bright Idea

The right lighting can take your deck designs, and business, to the next level and is a beautiful way to round out any project. Adding deck railing lights in your post caps, posts, and rails not only adds ambiance—it improves safety for your customers.
