Think Beyond Simply White Composite Decking for a Peaceful Retreat

March 4, 2021

Wondering if white composite decking is right for you? Sure, white composite decking evokes a sense of airiness, brightness, and gives you a clean aesthetic. But you don’t have to only go with pure white decking to get the look you want. TimberTech® capped polymer and capped composite decking comes in one white shade and several light gray and light tan hues that evoke the same pristine aesthetics of white.

Even better? When you pick light gray or tan, you get all the benefits of a chic, light-colored deck, but without the propensity for visible foot traffic.

Why Choose White Composite Decking

If you’re looking for white composite decking, you’re likely interested in:

  • A versatile color that goes with anything.
  • A bright, clean aesthetic.
  • Decking that stays cooler in the heat.
  • Decking that matches the white trim on your home.

White composite decking from TimberTech can certainly get you the look you want. But there’s more to consider if you’re seeking a crisply hued deck that blends seamlessly with your home.

Why Choose a White-Adjacent Color

Our decking portfolio offers you contemporary grays and airy, light tans that offer all the aesthetic and performance benefits of white — and then some.

Gray and tan are less likely to show dirt and debris as quickly, which means fewer deck cleaning days for you. They also hit design-forward style notes and are highly sought after by lovers of clean, contemporary home aesthetics.

White Isn’t the Only Color That Stays Cool

Timber Tech AZEK Harvest Collection Slate Gray

As kids, we all learned that white minimizes heat build-up. Thanks to leading materials technology, we’ve extended the comfortable foot feel of a white deck to other colors as well.

TimberTech® AZEK® deck boards are designed to stay 30° cooler* than competitive products, making them a great choice for decks in full sun and poolside decks.

*Although TimberTech AZEK decking products are cooler to the touch than many other deck board products, all decking products will get hot in the sun. Additionally, the darker the decking color, the hotter it will feel. For hotter climates, consider choosing a lighter color.

Design Ideas Using White Composite Decking

White composite decking is incredibly versatile and works with many different decor or design choices. Collect design inspiration from these ideas featuring our white composite decking, Whitewash Cedar, plus other light and bright decking colors.

Sleek & Refined

White and many off-whites give your deck design a sophisticated, refined vibe mixed with an airiness you just don’t get from darker colors.

Offset the brightness of your white deck boards with dark outdoor furniture for sharp contrast that lends your deck a sleek, contemporary feel.

Bold & Eclectic

White or light decking gives you the perfect neutral backdrop so you can channel a bold, eclectic style with colorful, patterned design choices.

Mix materials in your furniture, window treatments, and more for lots of textures. And don’t be shy about adding in bold pops of color, such as the bright yellow shutters or throw pillow in the image.

Coastal Cool

The classic combination of blue and white is unmatched in its cool, crisp aesthetic and is quintessential for coastal styles. Stick to the coastal theme with natural fibers and shades of blue in your decor and lots of white throughout.

Choose a white railing for your deck and match it with crisp white PVC trim for your home’s exterior.

Warm & Tranquil

Evoke the warmth of a sunny, sandy beach with light tan deck boards and lots of warm colors like yellows, oranges, and reds in your decor.

Enhance the relaxing atmosphere with comfortable outdoor lounge chairs and pepper in some tropical vibes with leafy greenery.

How to Examine Your Boards

To ensure you choose the perfect color for your outdoor living space, order free samples of white and lighter colored deck boards and place them in the area your deck will be built. Observe how they look at different times of the day and in different lighting.

Keep in mind when viewing your samples at home that the boards’ colors will look brighter or darker depending on several factors:

  • Lighting – In lower light, the deck boards will appear darker, while in brighter light, they will appear lighter.
  • The colors around the boards – Furnishings and decor can affect the perceived color of your deck boards — darker furniture, for instance, will create a greater contrast to white or light deck boards and make them appear brighter.
  • The angle at which light hits the deck boards or at which they’re viewed can affect the appearance of your deck boards, making them appear lighter or darker. Set your boards out in different lighting at different times of day to really get a feel for how your deck would look.

Now that you have a better feel for both the light and white composite decking we offer, order up to four free samples to get a close-up of our nature-inspired deck boards.
